When I was younger and getting into trouble or being a pain in my mom's butt, she told me one day I would have a child and that child would be just like me
and then I'd realize what a total brat I was. Robin needs to have a little girl that can rebel against her.

Definitely what Cindy said.

Susan, that's a great point. Everything out of Robin's mouth these days is a horrible cliche, from weight gain to hormones to
urination to flatulence, and ti's just like, come on. This is the girl that loves kids, has wanted kids for a long time, researched everything so
carefully, etc, and it would be sad for me, if I was a Robin fan and cared a whole lot about her character, to see her reduced to stupid cliches and dumb
stories about how her mother, the original kick-ass woman of the ages, superhero Anna Devane who tweezes her eyebrows with one hand while diffusing a bomb with
the other, is freaking out because she's a gramma. Whatever. The REAL Anna would be even more excited about this baby than Robin, if at all possible.
She'd already be calling the little thing Luv.
Kind of a random point that doesn't really belong here, but...eh. :-P |

I voted Girl for two reasons. First, they need to even out the next generation. I can't think of any girls beside Kristina Davis Corinthos & Lila Rae
Alcazar that have been born in the past 5 years or so. Well, there's dead baby McCall, but that doesn't count for me. But for boys, we have Morgan
Corinthos, Spencer Cassadine, and Jake Morgan that immediately come to mind. And also, I just realized that GH needs to name some kids after no one! Each of
these is names after someone...or well, in Jake's case, someplace.
ETA: I clicked Post too quickly and didn't even put in my second reason! The second reason is that I don't really care if Robin has a boy or a girl, but I'd love to see Patrick with a daughter. I was just about to type that we don't ever see any daddy/daughter bonding, but the I just remembered that I forgot all about Molly when I was typing up my first point. lol What can I say, I'm a little scatterbrained today. I'll blame it on today's Liason scene! And the promise of more on Monday. ETA #2: Ok, so I always vote, then comment, then read everyone else's comments. It's funny how everyone's reasoning is so freakin' similar! And I cannot believe that not only did I forget about Molly initially, but I forgot about Cameron! Shame on me!

There's also Lila Rae. She's what, an Alcazar and a Quartermaine wannabe? Yet another enemy of Sonny's / almost blood relation of Jason's.
There will be an interesting teen scene someday.
For a long time, GH was very heavy with the daughters - BJ, Maxie, Georgie, Serena, Leslie Lu... I think the only boys in that whole generation were Dillon and Lucas. Not exactly manly men, either of them. No wonder GH had to add a bunch of male newbies for these gals! Do you think they even bother thinking that far in advance, what with the dismal ratings and the declining audience? Do they even worry that they will need another teen scene in about 5 more years? ![]() |

I've personally never seen teh big deal about not having enough matched up babies on teh canvas. Most love interests are brought on anyway.
Dillon wasn't born on the show. Did we even know that Tracy was with some Hornsby dude? I can't even remember for the life of me. Nikolas wasn't born on screen. We had no idea he existed. Elizabeth and Sarah weren't born on screen. Emily wasn't born on screen but introduced when she was 11. That was one entire teen scene in itself. Sage was brought on, Dillon was brought on, Kyle was brought on, Johnny was brought on, Nadine was brought on, Spinelli was brought on, Logan was brought on. None of them were born on screen. I just never saw the big deal about not enough babies being born on the canvas or there being an unmatched amount because historically, most of the teens were brought on as new characters OR related to old preexisting characters.

Why can't I remember who Kyle is??
Instead of creating new characters, I do like it when they bring back existing characters, like Dillon. Even if he wasn't born on screen, there was mention of him. When Scott Clifton came on, it wasn't the first mention of the character. This is kind of off-topic, but personally, I'd love to see them bring Serena Baldwin back. Logan would have some more ties since Scott hasn't been on forever, and maybe she would give Lulu some more competition. And since it seems that they're going to be stupid and try to pair Maxie with Shawn Brady, er...whatever they name his character, maybe Serena woudl finally be a match for Spinelli. But I really just wish that they'd invest in Spixie! Has GH not learned that actors who were popular couples on other soaps do not translate to instant success? For example Stefan & Katherine did not equal Days' Steve & Kayle. Alexis & Cameron did not equal Santa Barbara's Mason & Julia. |

Seriously, Amy. If Spixie gets thrown over for Kirsten's old on-screen beau, I will be pissed. And it will confirm for me that the people
who write GH are stupid hacks more than half the time.

Huma, you were probably barely in grade school when Paul Hornsby (played by Paul Satterfield who was the evil guy obsessed with Blair on OLTL
about 2 years ago) was on GH. It was 17 years ago. I think he was involved with the Eckerts - that was when TG came back to play Bill Eckert instead of playing
Luke. Sometimes it is difficult to believe the ratings were better back then, given that some of the storylines were really ill-conceived.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Hornsby_(General_Hospital) And while I agree that plenty of new teen characters get brought on and do just fine, I definitely feel differently about characters that were born on screen. I was definitely more attached to Maxie and Georgie because I loved Frisco and Felicia, so therefore I wanted to love their kids. I think it helps with the continuity and history of the show and makes it seem a little less forced than when long-lost daughters and sons, etc. start showing up left and right. Or if you are Sonny, suddenly you have a half brother and a half sister show up all within like 9 mos. time. Blech! ![]() |

A girl.
We've got Michael (well, kind of), Morgan, Spencer, Jake, and Cam running around and only Kristina and Molly. We need some more girls to balance out the guys. - Jennifer -

It's certainly true, Susan. I remember watching Georgie be born and that was why I loved her even when she bored me to tears and I didn't care about
her at all. Does that make sense?
But I feel almost that that long-term caring for a character can be equaled by more short-term caring. I liked ALcazar for a while, so I liked Sage when she came on just because she was related to him. Johnny Zacchara was a hit for me because I instantly fell in love with teh image of him adn what he coudl be. Same with Spinelli. I care about Spinelli now as a "new" teen or whatever, as much as I care about Jake as Liason's golden child. Does any of that make sense? It's just that it's very possible to care about a new character that just came to town that is either awesome on its own or connected to someone awesome, as much as you care about a character whose birth you saw. I dont' necessarily think the two are mutually exclusive. Damn it, now I barely know what I just said. I'm going to bed and I'm going to hope i make sense in the morning.

I voted twins because I think it would be absolutely hilarious.
Patrick is freaking out about one kid right now, imagine if he were to find out he was having two. It would be all kinds of funny. And I like funny.

Ah, totally agreed. There have been SO many characters over the years that I guess they were hoping would be a hit just because they were linked to characters
already on the canvas (like Hannah Scott, FBI, Roy Di Lucca's daughter, to name one) that have just FLOPPED so badly because it seems like they ran with
the "OMG SHE'S RELATED TO HIM ISN'T THAT SOOOOOOOO COOL?!" angle instead of focusing on characterizations, etc.
And you nkow what else I was thinking about? You know how we're talking about how Robin is one pregnancy cliche after another? Well, Carly was one bad pregnancy "fact" after another - all of her stuff about ovulating and temperature and all that crap was just wrong, wrong, wrong. Someone in teh fact-checking department at GH really phoned it in. That got me thinking about Elizabeth's pregnancy with Jake. And when you think about it...we didn't hear one bad fact after another. We didn't get trimester talk, we didnt' get "now the baby weighs as much as 2 quarters" talk, we didn't listen to Elizabeth talk about how unattractive she felt. Her pregnancy was a true "dramatic" pregnancy. She was angsting for Jason and Lucky, she was having family drama with Lulu and Nikolas and Sonny, she was being all brave while cramping at the MetroCourt... ...Yeah, I liked Liz's second pregnancy.

Huma, I think we need to start a pregnancy thread in the rant section just specifically for gripes centered around the crap they are writing about pregnancy on
GH! But you are spot on - Elizabeth's pregnancy was not annoying in the slightest with GH's bad attempts at humor or medical knowledge. The only part
of it that I thought was kind of ridiculous was that she abrupted just like Sam. I mean, that isn't a common pregnancy complication at all, and here we
have two characters supposedly having it happen within 2 years' time?! GMAFB!

That irked me, too, but at the same time I was like, "Heh, hers lived adn Sam's didn't. EAT THAT SAM!!!"
And then I felt bad... But then I remembered that I hated Sam... And that she was a fictional character... So then I didn't. :-P
