It more than a little distubs me (looking at it from a copyright standpoint) but if you click on Authorsat the top, you can read full stories by several of the most classic authors. Bronte, Dante, Austen, Joyce, Cervantes, Sophocles, Byron, Fitzgerald, Dickenson, Dostoevsky, Hawthorne, etc. I'm currently reading The Picture of Dorian Gray, by Oscar Wilde. I read it way back when in high school, and I rememeber thinking it was wildly interesting, but I don't remember a thing that happens in it, so I figured why not. :P Plus, there's something just... different about reading British fiction - I think it's a good change of pace every once in a while. ~Pallas

Luckily for me books 1-5 had already been published, so I just had to wait to recieve the two final books. me too! right before Book 5 came out, my mother-in-law loaned me 1 through 4, so i got to read five in a row, which was pretty cool. did you hear about Book 7 being split into TWO movies?? i don't know how i feel about that. on the one hand, it would mean they would not be cutting too much out from the book, which is awesome. on the other hand, it sounds like a major scam to make people pay more money, and JK Rowling already has more money than God. either way, I'll be there with bells on!! i also heard a rumor that JK has not ruled out an eighth HP book, but that it would not be about Harry... maybe his kids?? I started right when #4 came out so I read them all during the summer right away.. It was great. I had a summer job where my Mom works for the state and I could hide the book under my desk. I read during work and no one caught on.. Then a bunch of the other college kids and I would go to the cafeteria and play crazy 8's.. Good times.. Good times.. I miss being young! I bet they split the movie at the part when Ron leaves them. That would be a perfect cliff hanger.. The only saving grace for me is that since I read the book I will not be worried about what happened. I loved POC, but the wait for 1 year to find out how it ended was horrible.. I hope they do it like the Matrix, didn't they release Matrix 2 in the summer and 3 during the holidays? I know that she has said she may write an encyclopedia that would have all the character bios and stuff not in the book (family, where they ended up etc), and it would be for charity. What I really want is for a book about James & Lily.. How did they go from him having a crush on her in book 5 to the great couple of year 7??? I just hope it is worth the wait. Kerri Kerri, you just summed it up perfectly, that's exactly why I root for him and would never change sides no matter how much they try and force Ranger down my throat. Morelli is just so sweet and tough and awww I love him. No wonder I don't have a man - stupid books giving me unrealistic expectations! I'm really looking forward to the new release as well. We have to at least get a couple of adorable scenes between them Have you read the Dream series (Daring to Dream, Holding the Dream, and ... well the last one I forget, didn't really like it) Daring to Dream is a fav. of mine too.. I too have found that most of her stuff now is getting repetitive.. That is why I started reading Julie Garwood and Judith McNaught. Katy, I have read the Dream series I'm the same I loved the first two and just liked the last for the glimpse we got of the other two couples. I loved daring to dream, Margo and Josh was a great couple I loved their arguing. I also loved the Chesapeake Bay series - I think Ethan's stroy was my favourite of that bunch. I love Julie Garwood and Judith McNaught and I have read all their books except Mcnaught's latest as it hasn't been released here yet. The historicals would be my favourites for both authors. Posts: 1010 05/13/08 10:49 AM I've got issues	I have to report in that after all the great comments about Twilight, I put it on hold at my library. I was 11th on the list. I finally got it Monday and as soon as I got home my daughter snagged it and started reading it. Now I'm waiting in line to get it again. My library doesn't carry the "Dark" series ... another ... so I'm back to searching the thread for another title. Maybe I should make myself a list... The historicals would be my favourites for both authors. I love until you by Judith Mcnaught but I think it's just because it's the first one I read so I was caught by surprise by how much I loved it. For Julie Garwood I love Castles, I recently lost my copy of it and I'm so upset as it made me laugh out loud every time and it revisits characters from guardian angel and the gift. I'm enjoying Julie Garwood's Buchanon series my favourite so far is Mercy as every time I read it I still laugh out loud at 'Couch Buchanon'. West, I absolutely LOVE Mercy. It was really hard for me to decide which of the contemporary series was my favorite from Julie, but I had to go with Mercy with Heartbreaker in a close second. I don't know why, but there was just something about Theo that just made me fall head over heels in love with him. I'm thinking it might be the first encounter when he threw up on her, LOL! Kidding. I could seriously picture him shaking his head and cringing when they started cheering his name and spelling it wrong. Especially since he had no idea what was going on and was trying to explain that, no, he was not the new coach. I loved that no one listened to him. It was great. I'm seriously this close to starting a Julie Garwood thread because I love her so much. I have two book shelves full of books and I'm such a dork that each author has their own shelf, and on each shelf their placed according to books in series and the ones that are stand alone are then ordered by genre. Cowboys here, historical there... I know, I'm a freak. Anyway, Julie is the top shelf of the first bookshelf. After hearing all the great reviews I had to get the book, but didn't have to add my name to a waiting list. Being a librarian I had connections. Cowboys here, historical there... I know, I'm a freak. Anyway, Julie is the top shelf of the first bookshelf. I cannot get enough of her. AmJay, I love that scene - I love Mike's reaction to it and how she won't help him explain at all and is just bent over laughing at him. The book just makes me smile in every scene I loved Mike's dad and can picture the Swan so easily in my head. I didn't love Heartbreaker the first time I read it I think it was maybe the change from the historicals but I reread it a few months ago and loved it, I think it helped having read the other stories involving the characters I went back with an open mind and really enjoyed it. I also really enjoyed Murder list I loved the character of Alec Buchanan. I'll join ya in the Garwood thread, I had to move rooms recently and hers were the first books to be unpacked. Plus it would be a great excuse to reread some stories and see what everyone else thinks of them. Thanks to Emma for the gorgeous banner

Posts: 79 05/14/08 12:00 PM Amanda Panda	As much as I loved Julie from the first book I read, I had refused to read her contemporary novels at first. There was just no making me read those. I was such an historical romance fan that I did not want to read anything (except Liason fic, of course) that was set in today's time. I actually read all of Julies historical fiction and moved on to a new author before I caved and read her contemporary novels. Now, I've only been reading books for about three years now. I didn't even read romance until I started searching for Liason on line. In fact, I used to make fun of my mom and all the books she used to read. But, when I told a really close friend of mine about all the stories I read online, she gave me her Ransom book, told me that I was not allowed to go online until I read it, and that was that. She created a monster and proudly admits it. But, yeah, I read Johanna Lindsey's books and some of Linda Lael Miller before I finally bought Heartbreaker. Once I started reading it, I could NOT put it down. And then I went and bought all of the other books. This was also before I found a used book store and so I was spending a pretty penny let me tell ya. And, I'm with you, I absolutely LOVED Mike's dad. Wasn't his name Jake? I think it was. I seriously have to go out and get a Judith book. R, have you tried the library's Interlibrary loan services? They search for books across the country and borrow them for you. I do this often and feel it is a wonderful service. I far prefer to own my favs, but cannot afford to do this as much as I use to. Especially since some of my series have gone HB. The library has been invaluable to me. When I had a bigger bedroom and wasn't living out of storage containers in a broom closet size apartment, I had a bunch of shelves. My books arranged by theme, author, height, and width. The only diff. was the heavy heavy books were on the bottom. Now they are either in storage in NJ, under my bed, in hampers, or a shed out back. I soo would join a Julie thread... And a Harry Potter thread if anyone wants to start.. I am too nervous others wouldn't post.. I am not brave enough to start my own yet.. But I will be a follower!! I'm just sayin'! P.S. Amanda.. I am in the middle of re-reading Saving Grace.. I can't believe most of the stuff I forgot. I remember the end scene and I remember the whole wearing a diff. color a diff. day but the other stuff it is like I've never read it before.. You must read her honestly I couldn't pick between them as to who I love more, I console myself with the fact that I don't have to choose as they are so different Julie is mainly Scotland and Judith is England so it's not like I'm cheating on one . She only has 6 historicals but they are all brilliant Until You and Once & Always would be my favourites. Thanks to Emma for the gorgeous banner

I have to say that in the first six or seven books, I think I flip flopped after each book on who I wanted her with, but over the last six or so, I'm been solidly decided on Ranger. I just finished reading firefly lane by Kristin Hannah and it was amazing. Similar to Beaches in theme, but different too. Plus, I think that I am Kate. I related to her on so many different levels. And then yesterday, since I took the day off because I needed a mental health day, I read The Next Thing on My List by Jill Smolinski. The main character, June, goes about tying to complete a list of "20 Things to do by my 25th Birthday" by the deadline. The catch is that it's not her list, it belongs to a 24-year-old named Marissa. June had just met Marissa at a WW meeting and offered her a ride home. They got into a car accident and Marissa died. Sounds morbid, but the list is the focus, not the death. It's actually very uplifting. ~ Amy ~
