That was a fantastic update!!!! I like that it came early!!! I was so glad that Wolf came to her aid. I thought that Ric was actually going to rape her, and
that Wolf wouldn't be there to save her. I loved how she held on to him for dear life, also loved that she realized that it had been him that came to her
rescue. So loving this fic.

Enchanted - 6/10 | #82 | ||
|
I'm posting a bit early since the fan fic forum will be closed over the weekend.
Back chapters are at my site : Blue Haze Chapter 6 Samantha was furious. She had been a fool to trust Ric and now she was paying the price for that decision. Ric had returned not only empty handed, but nearly half-dead from an encounter with the wolf. "He tried to rip my throat out." Ric moaned weakly from the bed in the doctor's room. He was covered in bites and scratches, but Sam felt his display of suffering was over exaggerated. "I'm lucky I got away. He was trying to kill me." She narrowed her eyes at him. "He'd have saved me the trouble if he'd succeeded." Then turning her back on him, she ignored his pleading and stormed out of the room. The time left until the coronation was quickly slipping away and she couldn't afford to waste any of it listening to Ric's self-pity. She never should have entrusted him with such an important task. Now she was going to have to take care of the problem in Charles-by-the-Sea herself.
~*~*~
Elizabeth stood in her garden staring at the forest. Her fingers gripped the handle of her basket so tightly her knuckles shone white. Yesterday had been a nightmare that she'd never awoken from. That man, she couldn't even say his name, had attacked her, had tried to rape her. If it hadn't been for Wolf… She shuddered and the wooden handle snapped in her grip. Wolf had saved her and then had sat with her until she'd finally calmed down. She didn't know how or why he'd known she'd needed him or why he'd stayed with her, but she was grateful that he had. Once she'd stopped crying and gathered her wits, she'd removed his bandage. It had helped to focus on something other than her fear. Wolf's leg had healed well and she felt it safe to let it go without another bandage. Besides her hands had been trembling so badly, she doubted she could have bandaged it again if she'd had to. Then with nothing left to distract her, all she'd wanted was to be safely at home. Her tears had threatened to start again and she'd awkwardly levered to her feet and started back to her house. Wolf had stayed by her side even when her walk broke into a run. He'd only fallen behind when she'd gotten in sight of her house. She'd felt dirty. Not simply filthy from rolling around in the leaves and dirt, but as if she'd been tainted. His touch had contaminated her and she wanted to wash the feel of it off of her. Her father wasn't back from his rounds, a fact for which she was almost glad. She didn't think she could bear telling him what had happened. Closing the shutters in her workroom, she pumped water into a large tub. Then without waiting to heat it over the fire, she stripped and climbed in. The water was frigid but she didn't care. She scrubbed herself with lye soap until her skin ached and she was shivering from the cold. When she finally climbed out and dried off, she made a fire and burned her dress. Then exhausted she donned a clean shift, crept upstairs and into bed, curling into a ball under her blankets. Her father had come to check on her later that evening and she'd lied to him, telling him she thought she had a touch of the ague. She hadn't slept for a long time that night, even after breaking down and taking one of her sleeping draughts. She couldn't seem to keep the images out of her mind. Every minute detail seemed to scream at her, the wave of his hair, the lift of his mouth when he'd leered at her, the feel of him pressing his weight against her as he pinned her to the ground. The only thing that helped calm her was hearing Wolf's howl. He was close, much closer than he normally came. So much so that she thought if she looked out of her window she'd be able to see him prowling in the forest just beyond their house. But in the darkness she couldn't bring herself to get out of bed and look. This morning she'd made herself get out of bed and face the world. No matter how horrible her experience yesterday had been, she was alive and well, and was determined to not let it control her. So she'd done her morning chores, then gathered her basket and supplies and headed into the garden. She'd meant to finish there and head into the forest. Maybe just into the edges, within shouting distance of civilization. However, once she had looked into the trees, she'd frozen in her tracks. Swallowing roughly, Elizabeth stared into the shadowed woods. Nothing looked menacing. It was safe, she tried to reassure herself, but an icy finger of fear spread down her spine and radiated out to her limbs. The chances that he was out there waiting to accost her were slim. In fact, remembering the sounds of the fight between him and Wolf, she doubted he would be healthy enough to attack any woman any time soon. Then as if her thoughts made him appear, Wolf's head peered around a tree trunk deep in the wood. The basket dropped from her hands as a grin spread across her face. Without a second thought, she dashed through the garden gate, across the lawn and headed into the trees. She was glad to see him, but knew that he really shouldn't be this close to town. It was dangerous for him. If someone saw him they'd most likely think he was after nearby livestock and try to kill him. Which was a perfectly logical conclusion to reach since he was a predator, and the local livestock would indeed seem a very easy meal. Wolf had stepped out from behind the tree and sat while waiting for her. She sank to her knees in front of him and noticed as she did that his tail wagged just once. It made her smile. "Hello friend." She scratched between his ears and he turned his head to nuzzle her arm. "I'm very glad to see you again." "You seem to have a knack for showing up exactly when I need you." She sighed, shifted to sit next to him and let her eyes roam the forest. Wolf's presence next to her took all hint of menace away. The trees didn't seem to be pressing in on her and the odor of the dirt and leaves didn't make her stomach clench. Turning to him, she marveled again at the intelligence she saw in his eyes. She didn't think she'd ever get used to it, looking at a wild creature and seeing thought and emotion playing behind its eyes. Yet wild creature or not, he'd saved her and as strange as it was, this most unusual friendship was something she'd grown to cherish. "I wish you could understand me." Her hand played in the hair of his neck, its silkiness sliding between her fingers. "So I could thank you for saving me yesterday." "Elizabeth!" Elizabeth groaned at the sound of her name. It was Lucky Spencer. What was he doing here? She could see him in her yard peering over the fence into the herb garden. He must have seen the basket she'd dropped and assumed she was close by. Her annoyance was cut short by a sudden realization. If Lucky saw Wolf he would see him as a threat to the village. He'd form a hunting party to track him down and kill him. Lucky started around the garden to search for her behind the house. Elizabeth panicked. She didn't want him to get the idea of looking into the forest for her and catch sight of Wolf. "You've got to hide." Now she desperately wished Wolf could understand her. "It's dangerous for you to be seen." The last thing she wanted was for him to suffer because of her. Wolf tipped his head at her. She sighed. The best thing to do would be to return to the house and steer Lucky away from the woods. If she were quick she could keep Wolf's presence a secret. She started to go, but paused before she stood. Giving Wolf one last rub between the ears, she kissed him on his muzzle. "See you tomorrow, if you are still here." Then she hurried off to distract Lucky.
~*~*~
Although the doctor's house was on the edge of town butted up to the woods, there was an inn down the street not too far from it. Sam had paid the innkeeper handsomely to be installed in the front room of the second floor. It had a direct line of sight to her target. Peering through her window with a spyglass, she could see the house's front yard and garden in perfect detail. She could even see the way the man in the official looking uniform was looking at the woman like a lovesick puppy, and the way the woman was giving him only a tolerating smile. She obviously had no interest in him. Sam's mouth curled upward in a grin as she focused on the man. He would do nicely. Very nicely indeed.

to figure out how she is going to use Lucky...seduce him into helping her...hmmm...thanks for posting early!!!

R!
Love early posts! And I love the similarities between the Wolf/Jason and Elizabeth with Lucky interrupting. The Wolf makes Elizabeth feel safe and always knows when she needs him. Lucky is just a pain in the ass. And as much as I hate Sam, she definitely was smart enough to know that Lucky is easily malleable to her needs. Great chapter. I am hoping though Jason does eventually take human form

I just love Wolf. Poor Elizabeth...I felt her terror and ache. And then her relief at seeing Wolf. He knows her well.
And now Sam's in town and is going to use Lucky to her purposes. Well, she'll have an easy time getting him on her side since he's a complete and total doofus. I wonder what Wolf will do in retaliation, or how he'll protect Elizabeth. Lea |

Yay an early update! I really love Wolf and how he manages to show up when Elizabeth needs him the most. And I love the gentle tender gestures between them. So
sweet. Her petting his fur at his neck and kissing his muzzle and him wagging his tail when seeing her and nuzzling her arm. So adorable. Can't wait for
more. And curious to know what Sam is gonna do with Lucky the idiot. Probably use him as a puppet. Haha.

Yay! I love early updates!
I'm glad the wolf was nearby and let Elizabeth know it. He's going to be around for a while, making sure she's okay, especially knowing who Ric was and likely figured out why he was there. So Sam has taken it upon herself to do the job and she's decided Lucky will be her pawn. Excellent choice! Although neither of them are ever very useful, now are they? J |

I love that intelligent wolf. I hope the Ric dies from his wounds and hopefully Sam mistakes Lucky as someone important and then Elizabeth is safe, especially
with Wolf. Thanks for the early update.

Lordy what could she possibly want with Lucky? I love the rapport Elziabeth and Wolf have togehter. I cannot wait to find out the back story of how Jaosn wound
up being a wolf. I am so happy for the quick updates from you...i could just squeal with delight every time I see Quest or Enchanted.
Elizabeth's fears are so palpable in this. Looking at the trees as if they are the root of the evil. Then realizing trhat there's no way ric could possibly be able to hurt anyone at this point. Washing off the feel of him...the way the dirt and leaves smelled different after the attack...burning her dress. All of those things and then her very real feelings of safety when with Wolf... You are just so darn good!!!!!!! |

Man, I'm falling in love with a wolf...lol. Love that he stayed with her then followed her home, then stayed nearby all night and finally saw her in the
morning. Love that he even wagged his tail to let her know he was happy to see her too.

So I'll just add that Wolf's peeking out from behind the tree trunk made me giggle, it was too cute! And his solitary tail wag proves how giddy he is
to see her as well but in true "Jason" fashion, he doesn't reveal too much! LOL

Yay! The Fic forum is open again! Back Chapters are at my site : Blue Haze Chapter 7 All it had taken was "Officer Spencer I wonder if you could help me," and a little batting of her eyelashes. After that Officer Lucky Spencer was more than glad to help her with any problem she might have. The rest was easy. He turned out to be an enthusiastic do-gooder who really had no business being a police officer because he couldn't recognize duplicity when it bit him. And she had bit him. Several times. Much to his enjoyment. Samantha rolled over in bed dragging the covers off their naked bodies as she moved. At least he was handsome and well equipped. Sometimes her schemes had their bonuses. She looked him up and down as she licked her lips, he was most definitely a bonus. She might even keep him around a while. At least until she grew tired of him. But first there was something that needed to be taken care of. Lifting her bag from the floor, she removed a small amber bottle and removed its stopper "Lucky." He shifted in his sleep and she dripped several drops from the bottle into his mouth. "I have something for you to do."
~*~*~
Last night the darkness had brought with it all the horrors of her ordeal. All the sounds, smells and sights came alive in Elizabeth's mind, and she relived her terror over and over again. Once when she had awakened, she heard Wolf's howl and thought for a moment of sneaking out to find him. As tempting as the idea of curling up next to his strong sinewy body and cradling her head in the silky fur of his neck was, she couldn't bring herself to climb out of bed. The morning that dawned was overcast and threatened rain. However she had more pressing matters on her mind. Yesterday Lucky had mentioned in passing that he'd received several worried complaints about a wolf howling close to the village. He wasn't overly concerned. The wolf had not taken any farm animals or attacked any people, and he hoped the animal was simply passing through. However, if it stayed in the area he might have to deal with it as a precautionary measure. Elizabeth had nearly panicked. She couldn't let anything happen to Wolf, which meant that he couldn't stay here. Although she had no real idea what she could do to make him leave. Her only thought was to lead him back into the depths of the forest and hope he wouldn't follow her home. So with no better idea, she'd decided to lure Wolf back to the clearing where they'd met and leave him there with a slab of salt pork. However, before she could set out, her father got a message from Sonny Corinthos asking for his services. It seemed Michael had disobeyed orders and tried to sneak out of bed. He'd fallen and knocked his broken leg bones out of alignment. Her father had asked her to make a potent pain and sleeping draught that would keep the boy asleep while he reset the break. Making a potion that was strong, but not too strong, was tricky and Elizabeth needed all her wits about her to get the dosage correct. She'd had to go to the attic to gather ingredients and by the time she'd made the mixture and carefully written out dosing instructions, the morning was half gone. Then with her father on his way, Elizabeth turned back to getting ready for her trek into the forest. The thought of going back to the place where she was attacked made her knees weak, but she had to help Wolf. She'd just finished gathering everything she needed when there was a knock at the door. She groaned. She'd forgotten to put the 'Out-of-the-Office' sign in the window when her father left. There was no help for it. She would have to answer the door. Opening the door, she nearly heaved a sigh of relief to see Lucky standing there. As annoyed as she usually was to see him, today she was glad. She could find out if there had been any more complaints about the wolf. "Elizabeth. How are you today?" Lucky smiled and lifted a basket. "I hope you haven't had lunch yet." Without waiting to be invited in, he moved past her into the workroom and set the basket on the table. Elizabeth watched him gape-mouthed, completely at a loss for words. This was unlike him. He'd never before been so forward. "Actually, I was getting ready to leave." She pointed to her own basket, packed and nearly ready for travel. "I know it was presumptuous of me, but Bobbie had just made a cherry tart and I knew how much you liked it." Lucky smiled, making his eyes twinkle boyishly. "Bobbie's cherry tart?" She eyed his basket and he took advantage of the moment to begin unloading food. Along with the cherry tart, he also had two meat pies, a warm loaf of bread, a jar of honey butter and a bottle of wine. It all looked and smelled delicious. "You're not going to make me eat all this by myself are you?" His grin was infectious. She smiled and relented. At least this would give her an excuse to find out the latest information on the wolf. Lucky lifted an eyebrow at her. "So shall we eat dessert first?"
~*~*~
Samantha brought the carriage to a stop in front of the doctor's house. Fortunately for her, it blocked the view from the village. No one would be able to see what she was doing. Climbing down, she opened the carriage door. Then she turned to make sure no one was close by. Going to the door of the house, she flung it open to find Lucky standing just inside the room. Cradled in his arms was Elizabeth's unconscious body, her head lolled back and her arms dangled limply. "This isn't going to hurt her?" Lucky's eyebrows were drawn together in concern. "Of course not." Samantha reached up to caress his cheek. "Trust me." Lucky's eyes seemed to lose focus and without another word, he carried Elizabeth out of the house and laid her across the seat inside the carriage. Samantha closed the door and stopped. She looked into the forest beyond the house. Narrowing her eyes she searched among the trees. She didn't see the wolf, but she knew he was there, watching. "I know you're there." She didn't yell. She didn't have to. The wolf was more than capable of hearing her. "You know what you have to do."

Sam is vile and Lucky is as usual just clueless about people and women. He never seems to be thinking with his head. I hope Wolf is able to free Elizabeth
without doing what Sam's evil deed demands of him, which is more than likely killing Nikolas. Elizabeth is going to be as much trouble for Sam as she
possibly can be. Great update, love it.

Maybe Elizabeth still has some of the sleeping potion in her skirt pocket and can somehow use it on Samantha...far fetched I know...just a thought! I bet
"Wolf" is going out of his mind with worry about what Samantha has done and will do to Elizabeth.

I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying this story!! Fabulous update!
I'm betting Elizabeth is going to feel absolutely horrible when she realizes she is being used to control Wolf. Hopefully Wolf will be able to get Elizabeth out of this without having to bow down to the wicked witch Sam. Lucky deserves whatever whatever Wolf ends up dishing out to him! |

Now there you have it, Lucky is such a nit wit!!! I can't believe he fell for stupid vapid Samantha!!!! I so loved this chapter, and chptr 6. I loved how
she felt safe with Wolf and that she wanted to keep him safe. I also liked how Wolf is staying so close to her, and protecting her. I can only think that Wolf
will try and kill Nik, just to get Elizabeth back safe and sound. But knowing how clever and cunning Wolf is, hopefully he can fool Sam! Looking forward to the
next update!!!!!!!!!!!
