About half an hour into the dance Elizabeth was officially bored. The music was nice and the gym looked great but watching everyone have with their dates was killing her. Emily tried to make her feel included but it just wasn't the same. Up until that point the dance had been filled with fast songs, and everyone else seemed to be having a good time while she stood alone in a dark corner.

The time couldn't go by fast enough. She couldn't wait for nine o'clock to arrive and for Jason to come get her. Lucky Spencer slowly approached her from the dance floor with a smile on her face, and she dreaded the question that she knew was coming.

"Hey you look lonely" he said coming to a halt in front of her.

"I'm fine, really" she said trying to reassure him, and stop him from asking her to dance with him.

"I'm amazed that the prettiest girl at the dance doesn't have a date." he said beaming at her.

"Thank you." she said in reply to his compliment.

"I would have asked you myself but Emily told me that you were taken. So you can imagine my surprise when I saw you standing here all alone. " Lucky said fishing around for the details.

"I am taken but he couldn't make it."

"Does he go here?"

"No, he graduated already"

"Oh."

Just then the New Kids on the Block's song Single started playing in the speakers and Lucky decided to get to the point.

"Well since you're all alone, will you dance with me" he extended his hand with hope in his eyes.

Elizabeth knew that she couldn't just turn him down so she placed her hand in his and he led her to the dance floor. He put his hands on her waist, and she put her hands on his shoulders.


"This song sounds strangely appropriate don't you think? It's exactly how tonight happened." Lucky whispered into her ear. Once Elizabeth realized what he said, she snapped out of her trance, let go of him and took her hands off of his shoulders.

"I'm sorry Lucky but I'm not now nor will I ever be your girlfriend. I appreciate you being so kind to me, and trying to make me feel better but I have someone in my life and he's the only one I want." she said turning and walking away from him toward the door.

She knew that Jason told her not to leave before nine but she couldn't breathe in there. She had to escape. She got to the door got out as fast as she could. As soon as she got out the cool night air hit her. She wrapped her arms around herself to keep warm. The wind whistled as it blew.

She suddenly got the feeling that someone was watching her and she looked over her shoulder. Suddenly a creepy feeling washed over her as she looked toward the shadows. Her heart stopped when she saw a figure move in the darkness. Before she knew it she was trembling with fear. All she could think to do was to slowly back away but her feet weren't getting the message. The shadow began to walk towards her. Her feet finally were able to move and she took a step back every time the figure stepped forward.

Her heart was beating so fast she thought that it was going to come out of her chest. Then all of a sudden she heard a loud engine, and she turned to see a black Aston Martin pull into the parking lot. She looked back toward the figure and noticed that it was gone.

"Elizabeth" She heard a voice say, and she turned back toward the car.

"Jason!" she said running over to the car and wrapped her arms around him.

"What are you doing out here? I told you not to come out until nine" he said holding her in his arms. He could feel her heart racing, and couldn't help but ask why. "What's wrong sweetheart?"

"I was out here waiting for you, and I saw someone over there walking toward me."

"What?" he asked looking over shoulder toward the building. "I told you not to come out here. Especially not by yourself. I know you probably don't want to hear it but it's too dangerous."

"I know but I just couldn't stand it in there. I thought about you the whole time, and I couldn't take it anymore." she said trying to explain herself. "Please don't be mad at me, Jason" she pleaded.

"I'm not mad at you, I'm worried. I don't know what I'd do if something happened to you. I'm just glad that I came when I did."

"Why are you here early?"

"Because I had a feeling that you probably wouldn't heed my warning so I came just in case."

"I'm sorry that you were right, but I'm happy that you were here to save me."

"I'll always be here to save you." he said smiling down at her and placing a kiss on her forehead. "Come on, I've got a surprise for you" he said walking her over to the passenger side of the car, and opening her door. She got in and he closed the door for her. He walked over to his side and got in.

"So what's my surprise?" she asked smiling at him.

"You're going to have to wait and see, beautiful."

"I love it when you call me beautiful and stare at me like that"

"I could stare at you all night long" he said making her blush, started the engine and drove away into the night.
