"Because, I love you."
Jason moved his hand from under her chin to cup her face. Never taking his eyes from her, he slowly lowered his head. His lips gently caressed hers. Pulling away from her slightly he looked in her eyes again, before pulling her back and capturing her lips once more, while his thumb stroked her cheek.
Elizabeth finally wrapped her arms around his neck, giving a soft sigh. Opening her mouth ever so slightly. Jason took the invitation and slipped his tongue slowly into her mouth, softly caressing and searching for hers. Moaning softly she met him and they began the slow intimate dance of lovers.
Jason moved his arms around her body. He pulled her in as tightly as he could, deepening the kiss. He turned her slightly so that her back was facing the pool table, and slowly backed her up against it. Pulling away slightly to catch his breath, "I've wanted to do that for so long," he whispered before crashing his lips back to hers. Jason ran his hands down her body, cupping her bottom; he suddenly lifted her up and effectively wrapped her legs around him. Finally, he moved her back a bit and set her on the pool table, with her legs still wrapped around him.
Jason knew he should slow things back down. He knew he was a step away from things going to far. He moved his hands back up to cup her face slowing the kiss. Finally, he pulled his lips from hers and rested his forehead against hers. Both of them were gasping for breath. Eventually he was able to draw a normal breath and he moved his head away and looked into her eyes. What he saw was confusion, happiness, longing, and love.
He smiled at her and said, "I'm sorry I shouldn't have let things get out of control."
"What are you talking about Jason? I..." she started to say.
"Elizabeth I want you. God knows I want you, but not like this," he replied. "Not on top of a pool table in a dingy bar. You deserve better then that."
"How did I ever come to deserve someone like you? Jason, I love you too," she said moving her lips to his in a gentle kiss.
"I want this to work for us Elizabeth. I want us to finally take the chance that we never took before. I want to fix the mistakes of the past and move forward to a future with you. We need to take things slow though. I want you to be sure," Jason told her.
"Jason if everything you are saying is true, then we have been in love for eight years, and have done nothing about it," Elizabeth said.
"That's partially true. Elizabeth I want you to remember the past. I need you to remember it. Not just to be told about it, but to actually remember it," Jason said.
"Ok, we'll do this your way. Now you still owe me a pool lesson," she said laughing.
**************************
They quickly got back to the game. Jason was able to take his shot, and a few more after that before finally missing and allowing it to be Elizabeth's turn. While Elizabeth's belly was not too big at the moment, she still found it difficult to lean over the table. "Jason, I'm going to need your help here. I can't remember how to do this," she said.
He smiled at her as he moved up behind her, and wrapped his arms around her. Then taking the pool cue he positioned her arms and hands just right before helping her lean over the table. "Ok now just pick the ball you want to shoot at, and we'll aim at it," he said in her ear.
"The blue one in the corner pocket," she replied.
"The blue one in the corner pocket, ready?" he asked.
She nodded her head in response. They took aim and easily knocked the blue ball in the corner pocket. Just as last time she jumped up with excitement, "I did it! Let's do it again." Jason laughed at her excitement and quickly helped her set up for her next shot.
They continued this way until the game was over. Jason took her stick from her and asked, "So you want to go check out my old room?"
"Sure," she replied.
Taking her hand, they walked up the stairs together. Both of them paused outside the door and finally Jason opened it. "You know I remember you coming to my room after that photo shoot. You had promised Lucky not to see me anymore, but when things went bad you still came to me. You had that black dress on with those white gloves. You looked so beautiful."
"You were going to kiss me. Man did I want you to kiss me, but I chickened out. I knew that if I kissed you that would be it. There would be no turning around for me. Turning to him she said, "You were the one I wanted, but I wasn't strong enough."
Pulling her into his arms he said, "You are and have always been one of the strongest people I know. We were both confused by what was happening. I wanted you and made no real secret about it, but the person you had loved, who you thought was dead, was back. It was something that couldn't be ignored. I get that now, I didn't then but I do now. We have a chance here Elizabeth, there is nothing stopping us now, except the past. Maybe this time you won't have to take your gloves and go. Maybe this time you will stay."
Elizabeth turned around and leaned into him. "We have a lot of memories here, don't we? It is hard to believe that we ever let all of this get away from us. I want you to know that I loved every second we spent here, no matter how painful they may have been. This place was and is important to us."
Jason moved his hand up to her face to brush a stray strand of hair away. Then he wrapped his arms around her and replied, "I feel the same way. Would I have changed anything? Not sure, I would have, except I may have chosen to be more aggressive in going after you. I may have tried harder." Jason heard what sounded like distant thunder. Laughing he asked, "Are you hungry?"
"Starving," she replied laughing.
"Kelly's?"
"Sounds perfect, besides I want to see if it's changed at all," she replied.
"Not really, but Mike Corbin runs it now for Bobbie," Jason said as they descended the stairs. He quickly helped her put her jacket on.
"Really? Mike?" she asked laughing.
"What's so funny about that?" he asked with a boyish grin.
"Come on Jason, the Mike Corbin I knew was one of the laziest people I have ever met," Elizabeth said.
Laughing Jason replied, "He's different, not much, but he is."
They quickly started to walk out of Jake's. They both stopped suddenly at the door before leaving and looked over the place.
"So this is where is began for us again," Elizabeth said barely above a whisper. Smiling at Jason, she allowed him to take her hand and escort her back to the truck.
