Sorry it took so long for an update, I was hoping my muse would lead me in a new direction, but I just can't seem to get off a certain track. Hope you enjoy.

Jane was wiped out, she had spent hours being poked, prodded, x-rayed, and questioned. She could only hope that the tests would give her answers, better yet, would led Dr. Drake to a way to bring her memories back. Now she was headed back to the room she was sharing with Caitlyn above some dingy bar named “Jakes”.

When EJ first saw the establishment he flat refused to let Jane or Caitlyn stay there, but as soon as Jane walked in the door she was for once at ease. The small rooms with limited furniture were perfect. She could not wrap her head around the concept that everyone needed to fill a room with unusable clutter and furniture. That is why EJ was staying at the ritzy hotel on the other side of town, with room service, end tables and a valet. It was perfect for him and the free wifi, well there you had it. EJ would always chose a place where he is constantly connected to the outside world, Jane on the other hand liked the idea of hiding away in the small hole in the wall bar where she was not likely to run into anyone she knew or where no one was likely to notice her presence. That was why it was such a shock to walk in and see her PI sitting right there having a heated discussion with one of the bartenders she had not seen yet.

“Ethan, I am not going to warn you again. You stay away from Kristina or else.”

“Ah yet another veiled threat eh? That’s alright keep em coming, you have no say over what your sister does.” Ethan, the apparent bartender replied.

“She is only 18 years old! And I swear to god, if you as much as call her again I will make sure Jason puts a bullet in the back of your head.”

“Oh going to shoot me in the back now? I mean kicking me when my back was turned wasn’t enough, and now its going to be Jason you’re going to convince to come at me like a coward? Does Jason know of this little plan or were you hoping I would just start shaking the moment you said Jason Morgan and run away? I’m going to tell you this one last time, I’m going to keep seeing Kristina. And I don’t care what you, Alexis or Sonny have to say on the issue, and I sure as hell don’t care what Jason has to say about it.” He barked before turning away and walking back to the kitchen.

“Sam?” Jane asked quietly.

“El..Jane?” The PI asked surprised looking to make sure the bartender had really gone. “What? How did you get here?” She asked perplexed.

“I know you thought I should just get on with my life, start new and everything. But I found this doctor, and he specializes in brain injuries and head trauma. He thinks there is a good chance he will be able to figure out what is wrong with me and help me get my memories back. I didn’t realize you lived in Port Charles.” Jane inquired, truly glad to see the PI.

“Jane? I don’t mean to be a downer, but you have seen doctors, and none of them have been able to give you any answers, why do think this time would be any different? Why keep setting yourself up for disappointment? Did you not like New York? I could help you relocate, perhaps California, or Florida?”

“Sam, I really appreciate the support but I have already met the doctor, actually I just got back from having all kinds of tests done for him.”

“So when did this doctor seem to think he would have the results in?” Sam asked, suddenly in a sour mood.

“Sometime tomorrow, and then I guess we’ll know. I figure if this guy can’t help me, then at least I know I tried everything.” Liz admitted.

“Jane? I thought when we discussed this, you didn’t want to find out who you were. I mean why would you want to go back to a life where you obviously weren’t missed? Now you have a job, and friends, and an apartment. Would you really want to give up everything you worked for just to be disappointed again? I mean correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t foresee EJ holding your job for you or your landlord letting you get by without paying rent, and how are you going to do that if you don’t have a job? I don’t want to tell you what to do, but you have worked so hard and come so far, why risk it when you will never find the answers your looking for?” Sam caringly suggested.

“Well I guess I’m lucky, EJ had some business to do in Port Charles and its not as if I haven’t covered shifts for all the other girls, I mean its not like I really had a life in New York like they did, so I didn’t have any trouble finding some that would cover for me this week.” Jane explained “Besides, its just a week. If Dr. Drake doesn’t have any answers for me by then, I guess then I will forget about it. No pun intended.”

“So only a week?” Sam inquired. “Then you are going to leave and go back home?”

“If Dr. Drake can’t give me any answers I don’t see the point of sticking around.”

“Well then, I hope you get the answers you are looking for. I’ve got to go, but if you need anything or have any questions, call me, or call Spinelli. You remember my partner right?”

“Ya, but I’ll probably just call you, he was alittle weird. And if I forgot to tell you, I’m so grateful for everything you have done for me, and with helping me set up my life in New York.”

“Don’t mention it. And how about we keep the fact that we know eachother quiet, I can’t let anyone know I do pro bono work. I have bills to pay myself.” Sam said as she all but rushed out of the bar.

“Spinelli! We have a problem call me as soon as you get this!” She frantically explained on her partners voicemail.

The Penthouse

“Jason!” Cameron excitedly yelled as the leather clad man walked through the door.

“Hey Cam, what happened?” The mobster asked when he saw the bandage covering the small boys hand.

“I got stitches” he explained.

“And why did you need to get stitches?” He inquired.

“Because Cameron learned the hard way why he has to get an adult to help him cut an apple” Carly interjected as she came down the stairs. “Hey Cam, I just started a movie for Jake upstairs, why don’t you go watch it with him and I’ll bring up some popcorn, okay sweetie.”

“Okay.” Cam agreed before hopping up the stairs.

“Jason, we need to talk about Cameron.” Carly tentatively began. “When we were at the hospital, Cameron swears he saw Elizabeth on the elevator. I tried to explain that Elizabeth had passed away and was in heaven, but he is adamant that he saw his mom. I think perhaps you should see about taking him to talk to someone. He hasn’t really gotten a chance to talk about his mom, and I’m assuming you haven’t been talking about her with him, and I know Sam, all Sam wants to do is pretend Liz never existed.”

“Sam just thinks the faster we become a family and begin to act like a family, the easier it will be for Cameron and Jake to accept us as their parents. Carly, the boys didn’t only lose Elizabeth, they lost the only father they had ever known. Those boys have been through so much already, Sam and I are just not sure digging up memories of their mom and Lucky are really what they need right now.” Jason admitted.

“Well we both know I’m no cheerleader for Elizabeth. Frankly I could not stand the little witch most of the time, but she was always a good mother Jason. And I can’t help but wonder what I would want if something were to happen to me and Jax decided to walk away from Morgan and Jocelyn.”

“That would never happen Carly. And Sonny and I would make sure they had everything they need if it did.” Jason assured her.

“Even if I thought they needed to talk to someone, a professional, to help them mourn? I see Jake looking around for Elizabeth still and now with Cameron saying he saw her, and Jason, he was convinced he did, so much he has me looking around expecting to see her come around the corner. I’m just afraid Cameron is going to confuse Jake even more.”

“I think Carly is right.” Sam interrupted. “Perhaps we should have Cameron talk to someone. I have actually had Spinelli looking into some private schools out west, there he would be able to accept that his mom is gone and with time, come to accept us as his parents.”

“I don’t think he needs to be sent away!” Carly proclaimed, horrified. “He has already lost his mom, his dad, and his Grandmother in the past 2 years Sam. The last thing he needs is to be dumped off at some boarding school!”

“Carly, he is confusing Jake! We have a responsibility to Jake and Cam, and I think sending Cameron away is the best way to help both of them accept reality and begin to heal.” Sam argued.

“No one is going anywhere.” Jason finally interrupted. “I’ll have Spinelli look into some doctors at GH he might be able to talk to, but I have to agree that sending Cameron away will only make him feel more isolated then he already does.”

“But what about Jake?” Sam demanded to know. “The more stories Cameron tells him about his mother, the more confused he is going to be. Jake is lucky, he might not even remember Elizabeth, he will eventually understand that his birth mom died and that Jason chose me to become his new mommy. Do you really want to risk Jake’s emotional well being so we can coddle Cameron?”

Just as Jason was about to respond his cell phone began to chirp.

“Morgan” he answered.

“Hey Jason its Robin, something happened today and I was wondering if you could meet me to talk about it.” She inquired.

“Is this about when Cameron was at GH getting his stitches?” Jason asked.

“Sort of, its really a long story and well its more about one of Patrick’s patients. So do you think you could meet me at my house in about 30 minutes?”

“You know what, I just got home and wanted to spend some time with the boys, could we do it tomorrow instead or can it not wait?” He asked

“No tomorrow would be fine, breakfast then?”  Robin perked up.

“Is that your way of asking if I would bring coffee and muffins from Kellys?”

“I’ll take that to mean yes?”

“Sure, see you then.” Jason hung up.

“So  what was that about?” Sam asked casually.

“Robin, she wanted to discuss something about one of Patrick’s patients. Its not big deal. So how was New York?” Jason asked before bending down to give his fiancé a kiss. “Did you get everything you need?”

“All I need is right here”

“Ewwe I’ll just let myself out, Jason, tell the boys I’ll bring Jocelyn by tomorrow morning and we’ll go to the park.”

“Bye Carly” Jason responded.

“You know, we could call her back in and run off to Hawaii to elope tonight.” Sam sexily suggested.

“For some reason the idea of disappointing Maxie and giving her some excuse to bug me for the rest of our lives just doesn’t have the appeal you might think it does.” Jason replied before kissing her and heading up the stairs to go see his boys, leaving Sam looking around worriedly.
