we all know that it is a sampling of people measured, the core NR families that still watch ABC soaps is small. It could be that other NR families tuned in outside of the other households because it was something they were curious about watching, who knows.

It is not that soaps are dead from a viewer perspective, they just are not written well enough to hold interest any longer.

For example, I like Ellen, but I have never bothered to watch it live or try to find out when it is on, I normally see it on some re-run at a random time. Just like the reality shows, if I am flipping the channel around and I see the Sister Wives or Kendra (that little Hank is a cutie) I will watch for a couple of minutes, but I do not search it out or DVR it.

Now Bones, Criminal Minds, Mentalist, CSI - those shows are on my DVR. I used to DVR GH, I no longer do so.

A show has to have vested audience, GH writers have killed any viewer that is not a fan of 1.5 or Liz chasing Lucky or Dante and Lulu. And Sonny and his ladies.
