Nik and Liz have always been friends and will always be friends that is what RC is trying to get across.

Any Niz lovers who think that Liz will be anything more than angst for Brik is going to be very disappointed.

Liason always tried to put themselves in the friend category when they were clearly more to each other.

Elizabeth's cautious nature will serve her well in the months to come.
You're entire post is basically why I can't get behind Niz. It's no secret that I loathe Niz as a romantic couple. But taking that away, all sarcasm aside, I truly, honestly do not get it. I see Niz on-screen, and there's nothing between them that indicates a deep-in-the-soul love for each other. With their other pairings, whether I liked them or not, I always got it. I could see it, like it was tangible. I understood it. But Niz being romantic, I truly don't. All I see between them is their deep, long-standing friendship.

Yes, friends can be great lovers and partners, but as of now, I see Niz as being each others' safety net. Not a rebound, per se, but not that soulmate, would die for love type thing that Liz and Nik have had with others. I see them re-establishing and repairing the damage to their friendship that their affair caused, which is definitely a good thing, but as for them being "in love", it seems forced. Maybe forced isn't the right word. More like they're settling. Niz love is safe, and what is that Liz told Jason: "Love shouldn't be safe." But that's exactly what Niz is: SAFE. Not to mention risk-free, especially now that Lucky isn't in the picture.

To sum it up, this is why I think Niz will never, ever measure up to Liason. "Liason always tried to put themselves in the friend category when they were clearly more to each other."  Niz, on the other hand, are trying to put themselves in the "more to each other than friends" category when they simply aren't.
