I may be naive, but there are many things I truly believe but have no proof as back up. I honestly believe SBu was not happy when they split up Liason at the end of '08. It seemed that from the beginning of 2009 to when he left he was phoning it in. He was doing what he was paid to do but the passion was no longer there. I don't think he wanted Liason to break-up, I don't think he wanted JaSam to reunite, I don't think he wanted JaSam to have a kid, and I really don't think he wanted Jake to die.

I also don't think that RC was really happy with writing the whole Liz s/l regarding Danny. He had spent months and, from the scenes Liason had, had put a lot of effort into connecting them once again. But he was ordered by TPTB to reunite JaSam so they could have their little mini-reunion before SBu/Jason left the show. Therefore, he needed to do something drastic to split Liason. The Danny-thing certainly was that. I think it was the only thing he could think of, spur of the moment, where Liason would be far as far apart as possible so JaSam could conceivably reunite. And yet, he still wrote Jason "dying" not being angry with Liz at all over her actions. He made a point of having Spinelli point out how much Jason loved Liz and not telling a soul as to what Liz did. In fact, it wasn't Jason who told Sam about what Liz had done; it was Liz. If Liz hadn't confessed, I doubt Sam would have even known. Jason, I think, would have protected Liz.

Interestingly enough, RC is still doing his own pro-Liason now with the little comments from Carly and even Alexis about the Liason connection. It reminds me of when TPTB--specifically Frons--ordered Liason split back in 2002. Yet Guza still managed to get in his little "digs". Like the ease at which Liason re-connected when Em was dying? Like when Jason and Liz caught the garter and bouquet at NEM's wedding? Like when Courtney warned Sam that she wasn't the one who was a threat to her and Jason but it was Liz she had to watch out for?

If Jason ever does come back, I have no doubts they'll explore Liason in some fashion. RC is definitely a Siam shipper and is determined, come hell or high water, that ME and KeMo be paired together. Otherwise, why else would he have written Silas to be paired with Sam when they brought back ME? RC could have easily written Silas to be involved with some other female. I think as far as Niz is concerned, it's simply a convenient pairing for the moment. RC needs to do something with Liz, and Niz is the most logical choice given Niz's history. Throwing Ric into the equation is for the same reason. These are two men Liz has a wealth of history with, so, again, it's convenient. Granted, I think RC's ultimate wish would be to bring back Lucky, but only if JJ played him. Thankfully, JJ doesn't seem to have the want or the will to come back. Hopefully it stays that way. So I guess my point during this long ramble is that Liason may actually have a shot. That is, if Jason does indeed return.
You know I love your posts Michelle, but I'm going to have to disagree with you this time.  SBu himself said that all his leaving did was speed up what was going to happen anyway.  How the man who always claimed not to know anything about story til the night before shooting knew this is a mystery. But I digress.  I believe jasam was always the endgame.

I do agree that SBu was unhappy over the last few years.  However, I do not think he cared one way or another about his pairings.  He was Gaza's boy toy and Steve loved him.  I think Gaza's firing and JFP' s leaving had more to do with Steve's leaving than any story or pairing.  I don't even think Steve and Becky are that close anymore.

I agree with this. Steve himself stated Jasam was always the plan.  His leaving just sped it up.  I can't even imagine how bad a year long drug out storyline would have been on Liz had he not left when he did.  I shutter at the thought.

I don't think Steve cared two bits about his pairings either.  It fed his family.  He wanted more time off.  Between them denying that and finally writing Jason as not the 'great white hope' I think he choose to bolt.  It had nothing to do with a fictional pairing on a soap though I think.
