A/N-I think everyone can agree that none of us is happy with what is going on the screen, I for one have decided to live in my own little Liason fanfic world. In this world anything can happen and it happens the way we want it to, for the most part. Sometimes the stories take on a life of their own. I am not sure where this story is headed, I am just along for the ride. As always comments good or bad, is appreciated. Read and enjoy, Robyn P.S. This was written right after the courthouse breakup. I first posted it at the Canvas.
"Grandmother, Grandmother, it has happened again." Emily exclaimed as she ran towards her dear Grandmother Lila.
"Slow down, dear Emily and tell me what you are talking about." Lila patted Emily's hand that was now laying on her lap. Emily was setting at Lila's feet like she did so often.
"You mean you haven't seen it?" Emily was in awe of her Grandmother's grace under fire. People use to tell her that she had grace under fire, they obviously had never met Lila Quartermaine.
"Emily, dear, you know I have been busy listening to Tracy and Luke bicker back and forth. And then there is your dear Grandfather who thinks he knows best for everyone. I'm sorry I missed what happened, will you please tell me what it is?" Lila Quartermaine sat in her comfortable armchair in a royal manner. Anyone that didn't know her would have thought she was a queen, ruling her kingdom. And in away that is exactly what she did, although she did it with a very loving hand. But when an iron handed was needed or any problem arose she was able to handle it with wisdom and authority.
"Oh, Grandmother, I don't know what to do. I have always tried not to tell people what to do, but these two are driving me crazy. They are both making horrible decisions and using safety and danger as excuses and it is all because they are afraid. They have come so close in the last year to finally being happy that I haven't interfered. I was sure they could figure this out on their own, but I think this last fiasco has done them in. The only way I can see this working out is if someone intervenes, don't you agree?"
"Why dear, who are you talking about?"
"Jason and Elizabeth, of course."

PART 2
Elizabeth walked inside to her home after Lucky dropped her off from the court house. She was glad that her Grams had the boys at her house. She needed time to gather her thoughts before she faced them. 'This is for the best. I've been selfish for long enough. No matter what Jason and I told ourselves, we were wrong. It is just too dangerous to be together.' She stood at her fireplace holding a photo of the boys last Christmas, tears sliding down her face. She had hoped that this Christmas that Jason could join them, that they could celebrate as a family. It will never happen now. That dream ended, when the Russians took Jake. Even though she knew Jason would stop at nothing to find Jake and to bring him home, her faith in him had wavered. She had doubted him. 'I've lied to myself long enough. I promised Jason I would give Jake a happy life and that is what I am going to do. From now on it's going to be just Cam, Jake, and me. They will never know the greatest man I ever knew but they will be safe.' She placed the frame back on the mantle and wiped her tears away. She had to go pick up her boys and face the rest of her life. She walked to the door and gathered her coat and keys and took a deep breath, letting it out as she opened the door. Yes, this was the rest of her life, but deep in her heart she knew that she would live it alone.
Meanwhile
"Oh, my dear, they have rather put themselves in a corner this time haven't they? My dear boy, Jason, just doesn't know how to accept that he deserves happiness. Yes, Jake was in danger but it wasn't his fault, well not entirely. That dumbass Spencer boy is the one that sent them to the cabin by themselves. Sorry dear, I know that Lucky was always one of your friends." Lila said as she looked in the life globe.
"It's okay Grandmother. Down there I had a hard time seeing past the Lucky that I grew up with, but from here I can see exactly what an idiot he is. Even after he had cheated on Elizabeth and was hooked on drugs I still tried to get Elizabeth to forgive him and "support" him. I was wrong. Thankfully, I finally realized the love between Jason and Elizabeth. I got to tell Jason that I knew Jake was his. And I told Elizabeth that she needed to follow her heart. I know that we are not suppose to interfere but hasn't this went on long enough?" Emily was pacing in front of Lila, and making the older lady nervous. She knew that once Emily got a plan in her mind it was hard to stop her and she wasn't so sure that she wanted to. She had been watching out for Jason every since she had left. Yes, the rebel of the family had made his share of mistakes, and two of the biggest ones were those horrible girls, Courtney and Samantha. But beneath his black leather he had a heart of gold. He had a special place in his heart for his grandmother, little sister, Elizabeth and children. The three women that accepted and loved him for him. He did not purposely cause pain, he only protected those that were his. He had never been really happy since the accident except for two times. Once was with the dear child, Michael, that was regrettably in a coma, but Carly had robbed him of that happiness. Thankfully Michael would be coming out of the coma soon and she knew that would please her Jason. The second time she had ever seen the real Jason be happy was with Elizabeth, especially when she had given him his first born son, Jacob Martin. How dense the people in Port Charles had to be not to put together the initials. Maybe Emily was right; maybe it was time that fate was given more than just a push, but a swift kick in the ass.
"Emily dear, I believe you are right. Now this is what we are going to do."
Meanwhile
Jason had just finished telling Carly what had happened with the Russians and Jake. His head was hung low and tears were slipping down his cheeks. "Oh, Jason, I know there is nothing that I can do for you but I am here for you." Carly could see that Jason was broken. He had just given up the family that he so desperately wanted. She had accepted the face that he loved Muffin, she couldn't understand it but she accepted it. After a few moments of silence, Jason got up and walked to the mantle. He picked up the picture of Emily. "You know what she wanted for me? She wanted me to claim my family. She knew that Jake was mine. I didn't tell her, she just knew. She also knew that I loved Elizabeth. I guess I can just add her to the people that I have let down. It is better off that no one is around me. It isn't safe and I bring destruction to everything I touch. You better leave Carly, because right now I am not sure what I am capable of." Jason's body was shaking with rage. There was no one he could blame but himself. "Jason, I'll leave but know that I am here for you. I know right now you don't see it but you are not all bad. You don't destroy everything you touch. If you did you would have never been able to create your beautiful little boy. Remember that." She opened the door and looked back one last time. Jason was sitting on the coach with a bottle of Tequila in his hand and was glaring at the fire like a man that had lost everything in the world.
After drinking most of the bottle and destroying the penthouse, Jason slipped in to a state of unconsciousness. He was somewhere between sleep and awake. "Jase, Jase, wake up. Come on, Jase. Talk to me." "Emily?" "Yes, Jase, it's me. What are you doing? You know that Tequila never solved anything. Make things interesting, yes, but never solved anything." "Your not real. I held your body, you are gone." "Than why are you talking to me?" Emily chuckled. She liked seeing her big brother in a state of confusion. It was not often you saw Stone Cold confused. "Your just a dream." "You don't dream, remember? Oh, that's right, you do, but only when you are thinking about Elizabeth." Jason could feel himself setting up straighter on the coach. He opened his eyes and he could see her. Emily was there setting on his coach. "What, I mean, how?" "Is Stone Cold lost for words?" Emily was enjoying this way too much. "Damn it Emily. I held your cold body. I saw them bury you. You can't be real." "Jase, you know that there are things in this world that can't be explained. I always told you that I would be there for you, right?" "Yeah, but.." "But nothing. I love you and I came because you need me." "Emily, I am glad to see you but I don't need your help." "Oh, so you think that your little sister made this trip to give you tips on how to destroy the Russians? Think again. They are the least of your problems. I am here to help you get your family back."
