Elizabeth was up before the sun on moving day. Jason was still asleep, the boys were still asleep but she was too excited. She crept quietly around the room, gathering clean clothes and was about to sneak into the shower, when Jason's arm snagged her and pulled her back into the bed.
"It's 5 a.m.," he said, pulling her into his body under the covers. "What are you doing?"
"We're moving today and I'm too full of energy to sleep so I thought I would go downstairs and get things started."
"The boys are in the tent downstairs. Why would you want to wake them up at 5? Besides, if you're awake and so full of energy I can think of a few other things you could be doing. Like me." He nuzzled into her neck. "Mmm, you're so warm and you smell so good."
"I was just about to have a shower."
"Well, maybe I could join you, make sure you don't fall."
"Mr. Safety," she said, returning his kisses.
He brought her hand to his cock and she stroked it.
"Maybe the shower can wait," he said, gasping.
"Maybe," she agreed, putting her mouth to him. He gave himself over to warm lips and soft tongue as she brought him to a peak of pleasure and then drove him over it.
"Oh God, baby. I love your mouth. I love the way you make me feel."
"I love the way you taste on my tongue," she said, kissing her way up his body.
He grabbed her and rolled her over, pulling her legs apart. "I love the way you taste too," he said, licking at her, making her squirm.
When he had sent her over twice, he crawled up and kissed her.
"I need to tell you something," he said, stroking her hair from her forehead.
"Wh- what?"
"Don't be nervous. I just need you to know that I have some information that I think you should know. Tom Baker was killed yesterday. An unfortunate accident in Arizona." He didn't mention that Tom's body was being taken back to Arizona for this accident.
"Oh." She mulled that over for a minute, her face solemn. "That's so weird to know that he's gone. I mean I don't think about him very often, but I sometimes would wonder where he was and if I would see him again. I was kind of scared of that."
"You don't have to be scared anymore," he said, looking into her eyes.
And then she realized that Jason had done it, or arranged to have it done. She wouldn't ask him, he obviously didn't want her to know, but she knew it. He had hunted down her worst nightmare and made sure he wouldn't hurt her again.
"I love you so much, Jason. Come to me," she whispered, pulling him on top of her and opening her legs to him. "Come inside me now. I love you."
He slid into her, knowing that she knew and that she wouldn't ask. But she enveloped him in her love, drowning him in it, wrapping it around him, making him feel so loved, so desired, so necessary. It was an incredible feeling and as he moved inside her, he swore he would always let her know that he felt exactly the same way about her.
They did shower together, saving on time and water, Jason said, though they took far longer than it would have if they had done so separately. Then hands entwined they made their way downstairs, past the piles of boxes ready to be picked up.
They crawled inside the tent in the living room, kissing the boys awake. The boys were tired, but Jason coaxed them out with promises of a surprise at the new house. That perked them up in a hurry.
"What's the surprise?" Elizabeth asked.
"You'll have to wait and see," he said.
They got the boys dressed and fed them quickly. The moving crew arrived and Elizabeth directed them and the truck was loaded quickly. In a matter of a couple of hours, the house was empty. Elizabeth stood in the empty living room, looking at the space that had been her sanctuary for the past two years. Jason came and put his arm around her.
"Are you sad to leave?" he asked.
"No. This place was what I needed when I was a single mother. It was a great little house for us, but I am ready to move on with you. As a family, in our new family house." She rose up and kissed him. "Come on, it's time to go home."
"That sounds more than good to me," he said, smiling. "Home."
They put the boys in the truck and headed for their now house, the moving truck following.
When they pulled in, the men got busy unloading the truck, and Jason pulled Elizabeth, Cam and Jake around the back to the barn. They walked into the big building and Jason told the boys to close their eyes.
"Why Daddy, why do we have to close our eyes?" Cam asked, almost vibrating with excitement.
"Why Da?" Jake echoed.
Jason came out of a stall and said, "Okay, open them."
The boys opened their eyes to see two black puppies with red bows around their collars, big feet and long legs indicating that they were not going to be small dogs.
The boys screamed with delight and hugged the puppies.
"Oh, Jason," Elizabeth breathed. "Puppies."
"One for each boy," Jason said. "A boy should have a dog, don't you think? Is it alright? I should have asked, I know but I wanted it to be a surprise and I will take care of the training. I promise you won't have to do a thing and.."
"Jason." She kissed him. "It's okay. It's better than okay. I wanted so bad to get them a dog, but I couldn't because I was always working. It's perfect. What are they?"
"They're black labs. Seven weeks old. Really loyal dogs. They will each bond to one of the boys, sleep in their rooms at night. They'll hear anything that moves outside. They will be protectors as well as companions."
"Mommy, come and see our puppies," Cam called out. Each boy was holding a dog and it looked like who belonged to who had already been sorted out.
"Oh, they're beautiful. What are you going to call them?"
"Wufus," Jake said.
"Rufus?" Elizabeth asked.
"Yea. Wufus is a doggy name. Wike my book."
"Alright, Jake's dog is Rufus." Elizabeth petted the dog's soft head, which was resting on Jake's shoulder.
"What about you Cam?" Jason asked. He was thrilled with the boys response to the dogs. He had hoped they would be happy and seeing their faces made him smile.
"Mommy do you remember that book you read me a long time ago about about a dog named Ziggy? Remember he stole the clothes off the line and ate a pie? It was funny."
"So you want to name your dog Ziggy? Let's hope this one behaves better than that one," Elizabeth said.
"Come on," Jason said. "Let's take them inside and show them the place."
They went inside and Elizabeth dived into emptying boxes. Jason took the boys and dogs up to the second floor bedrooms and helped assemble the beds and put sheets on them. The murals were done and with the touch up work Elizabeth had done, looked like they had always been there. There was still a lot of work to do to put everything away, but he figured as long as the boys had beds they could get into tonight, that was the important thing.
He went into the master bedroom and made up that bed too. He had no idea how Elizabeth wanted to arrange things, but if he wanted to throw her into bed at any point, they'd need sheets. He smiled at that possibility, then went downstairs, leaving Cam and Jake with their dogs in Cam's room.
Elizabeth was putting things away in the kitchen and he fell in to help her. They heard a knock at the front door. Jason went to open it and there was Sonny with a bag of groceries and a pot of something.
"Hi," he said. "I thought I'd bring supper over if that's alright?"
"Uh, yeah," Jason said. Elizabeth hadn't seen Sonny since she had kissed him and said it was like licking leather. He wondered if she'd be embarrassed, but then knowing her, he thought, probably not. He led Sonny back to the kitchen.
"Hello Elizabeth," he said. "I brought my marinara sauce and some fresh pasta and bread. And a salad."
"I love you, Sonny," Elizabeth said. "I thought we were going to have to order out."
"This is quite a place," Sonny said, looking around at the beautiful vintage furniture and decor. He could see what Elizabeth was trying to do, and it was stunning. He looked at Jason. "Doesn't really look a lot like you," he commented. "Where's your pool table?"
"It's in the basement, in the games room," Elizabeth said. She saw Jason's face. "Don't look so surprised. You didn't think I'd ask you to give that up, did you?"
He walked over and kissed her. "I should have known better, but thank you." He turned to Sonny. "And what do you mean this place doesn't look like me?"
"Well, it doesn't look anything like your penthouse."
"That's because other people put stuff in there and I just never bothered to move it. I just didn't care. And as for this place, when you look around do you see Elizabeth?"
"Yeah, I see her everywhere."
"Then it's me."
Sonny shook his head.
"I need to talk to you about something," Jason said.
"Okay," Sonny said, looking at Elizabeth.
"Jason, why don't you go show Sonny your new office. I'm just going to put this pot of sauce on the stove and carry on. Are the boys upstairs?"
"Yeah, playing with the dogs." He kissed Elizabeth and then said to Sonny, "Come on."
They walked into the office area on the other side of the main staircase. For this area, Elizabeth had decorated completely with Jason in mind, with dark wood and straight lines. They walked through an outer office into another behind it. It was dark, with burgundy leather chairs, a mahogany desk and all the comforts he could want, including wide screen tv and mini bar.
"She spoils you," Sonny said, sitting down on the luxurious leather couch.
"She loves me," Jason said. "Beer?"
"Give me a Scotch if you have it."
Jason found a bottle. Of course he had it. She had thought of everything. He grabbed a bottle of beer for himself and sat behind the desk. He looked at the polished surface. There was nothing on it but a picture of Elizabeth, Jake and Cam. He smiled at it. Looking at that all day would be no trial at all.
"So as you can probably tell, I'm planning on working mainly from here. I want to be closer to my family. Elizabeth is quitting nursing for a while. She never had the chance to just be a mother before; she was always worried about supporting her kids. She's going to start painting again."
"I somehow never pictured you settling down with wife and kids like this. I always thought of you with someone like Sam, who didn't like roots and loved the thrill of the life," Sonny said.
"Maybe the Jason I was five years ago was like that, and the Jason I was this last year when I was just trying to forget. But I'm over 35 Sonny. I have two kids and I have a woman who I love, who is going to be my wife. I want different things now. I don't want to chase danger and be on the run. I'm in the business for life and I know it, but you've managed to have a family and I want it too."
"I haven't been all that successful," Sonny said ruefully.
"That's got nothing to do with the business though, Sonny. That's got to do with some choices you made that weren't great. The thing is my marriage to Elizabeth is going to last. Because I will always put her first. That's something I had to learn the hard way over a lot of years, but I know now that my life isn't worth shit without her."
"I'm glad for you, Jason. I really am. I hope it all works out."
"It will," Jason said with calm confidence. His faith in his Elizabeth was rock solid. "I have to tell you something. It's not going to bounce back on us but I thought you should know."
"What's up?"
"I had Tom Baker, the man who raped Elizabeth, brought to Port Charles yesterday and I killed him."
"You what! What the hell, Jason? What if someone finds out?"
"No one is going to find out because he has already been sent back to Arizona where he is dying tragically today in a house fire."
"Jesus, Jason, that's a big risk to take."
Jason's eyes turned steely. "He raped her when she was just a girl. 15 years old. I could not let him walk this earth one minute longer. I should have done it years ago. I should have done a lot of things years ago."
Sonny looked at Jason and realized that he either got on board with the new Jason and his family or he didn't see them. They came first and he had to accept that.
